Romanian Government Scholarships 2011-2012

Scholarships offered to foreign citizens by the Romanian state, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the GD 288/1993 (2011-2012 academic year)

Number of scholarships : 85 scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Romania, through the selection of files organized on the basis of regulations by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MECI).

Conditions for qualification : citizens from non-EU countries (whatever their country of residence). Precedence EU citizens from third countries with which Romania has executed documents to cultural cooperation. Note that for citizens of the Republic of Moldova shall apply to other scholarship programs.

Scholarships are granted for three levels of study :

a) License : This program is intended for high school graduates or equivalent pre-university systems, as well as candidates seeking the recognition of partial studies and the continuation of their studies in Romania. The complete cycle for a period of 3-6 years, depending on the chosen faculty and ends with an examination of the license.b) Degree : This program is aimed at university graduates / post, it lasts for 1,5 to 2 years and ends with a dissertation.c) Ph.D. : This program is aimed at graduates of university / graduate – masters program is conducted over a period of 3-4 years, depending on the chosen faculty and ends with the support of a thesis.

Priority areas : will be promoted, with priority applications of candidates wishing to study political science and administration, science education, Romanian culture and civilization, journalism, technical studies, oil and gas, agricultural sciences, veterinary medicine, architecture and arts. Requests targeting other areas will not be rejected.

Language of study : To promote Romanian language and culture among foreigners, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has decided that recipients of scholarships awarded by the Romanian state to study Romanian language only. For candidates who do not speak Romanian, it is granted a preparatory year for the study of Romanian.

Government of Ireland Scholarships in Science, Engineering and Technology 2011/2012

The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET) ‘EMBARK’ Initiative and the Enterprise Partnership Scheme (EPS) offer opportunities for suitably qualified individuals to pursue a postgraduate degree by research. The Scheme supports basic research in the broad areas of Science, Engineering and Technology.

The online application system opens on Wednesday 12th January 2011 for individuals hoping to begin postgraduate research in the Republic of Ireland in 2011. Individuals awarded under the scheme must maintain their principal residence in the Republic of Ireland during the term of the Scholarship. Scholarships must be held at a recognised Higher Education Institution within the Republic of Ireland. Individuals wishing to carry out postgraduate research by registering in Higher Education Institutions outside the Republic of Ireland are not eligible to apply for funding.

While a majority of postgraduate Scholarships awarded by the Council are offered to European Union (EU) citizens, or to those who are ordinarily resident within a member state of the EU, a proportion of awards are also offered to exceptional candidates who are ordinarily resident in non EU member states
Scholarships are awarded only to those who will engage full-time in research during the period of the award.
Applications for funding under the scheme are accepted by an online application system available at our website www.ircset.ie from Wednesday 12th of January, 2011. The strict deadline for applicants to submit applications is Wednesday 16th February at 5.00 pm (GMT/ UTC) 2011.

Eligibility
IRCSET’s schemes support basic research in the broad areas of Science, Engineering and Technology. Research which is deemed not to fall within this remit is not eligible for funding.
Under this scheme IRCSET offers opportunities for suitably qualified individuals to pursue a postgraduate degree by research in a recognised third-level institution (A recognised Third Level institution must be contained in Section One of the Higher Education Act (1971) and/or be in receipt of public funding and be approved by the Minister for Education and Science for the purposes of the Free Fees Initiative).

Those currently registered as Ph.D. candidatesThose currently registered for a Masters degree (by research) with the exception of: Individuals in the Institute of Technology (IOT) sector in receipt of Strand 1 funding wishing to transfer to the Ph.D. register (in this case, IRCSET will support these individuals for up to a maximum of 2 years i.e. total postgraduate funded research including strand 1 funding cannot exceed 3 years)Individuals registered for a Masters degree (by research) intending to complete and submit for this award and begin a significantly new research proposal to Ph.D. level

The Government of the Czech Republic Scholarships 2011-2012 for Developing Countries

Scholarship Awards within the Foreign Development Assistance Programme – offer for the academic year 2011/2012

The Government of the Czech Republic offers a number of scholarships within the framework of its Foreign Development Assistance Programme in support of the study of foreign nationals from developing countries at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic.

These so called Government Scholarships are designed to cover the standard length of study:

in Bachelor/Master study programmes plus one-year preparatory course of the Czech language (which is combined with other field-specific training). Government scholarships of this category are awarded to graduates from upper secondary schools who can enrol only in study programmes in which they follow instruction in the Czech language. Depending on the subject area, applicants are normally required to take entrance examinations at the respective institution of higher education. The scholarship award is conditional upon a successful passing of entrance examinations; orin follow-up Master study programmes or Doctoral study programmes. Government scholarships of this category are awarded to graduates of Bachelor or Master study programmes, respectively, who enrol in study programmes with instruction in the English language.

Scholarship applications together with the required attachments are to be submitted to the appropriate Czech Embassy in the applicant’s country before the deadline set by the Embassy so that the applicants’ dossiers reach the respective Czech authorities (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport) by 15 January each year.

Students who, at the time of application, stay in the Czech Republic may submit the respective documents to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department for Development Co-operation, by 31 December of the preceding year at the latest.

Foreign nationals who have been granted permanent residence in the Czech Republic are not eligible to apply for Government scholarships.

A limited number of scholarships is offered to students from developing countries who file their applications with the respective National UNESCO Commissions. Applications sent directly to the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport will not be processed.

Prospective applicants are advised to address their inquiries concerning, among others, their eligibility and closing date for applications to the Czech Embassies in their countries.

Notice:

The last amendment to the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals on the territory of the Czech Republic has had an impact upon the system of coverage of medical expenses incurred by the Government scholarship-holders.

Prior to the granting of a visa for a stay exceeding 90 days, the applicant is obliged to submit the respective certificate of travel medical insurance issued by an insurance company authorised to provide such insurance on the territory of the Czech Republic.

The Government scholarship-holders applying for a prolongation of their residence permit validity, have to contract and cover the respective medical insurance themselves.
